Highlights from the May 17 ERS Board of Trustees meeting

Rule change adoptions, new vision plan, new pharmacy benefits manager, Plan Year 2017 rates

Service purchase and flexible spending account rule changes

The ERS Board of Trustees adopted the following rule changes:

  • Allow a non-contributing ERS member to purchase waiting period service credit.
  • Allow participation in a limited flexible spending account for Consumer Directed HealthSelect participants to use on qualified vision and dental expenses.

New pharmacy benefits manager for HealthSelect of Texas Prescription Drug Program and HealthSelect Medicare Rx

Beginning January 1, 2017, UnitedHealthcare will administer prescription drug services for participants of HealthSelect of Texas, the new Consumer Directed HealthSelect, HealthSelect Medicare Advantage and KelseyCare Advantage HMO. This fall, ERS will provide more information on the transition of your existing prescription benefits to UnitedHealthcare. The health maintenance organization (HMO) pharmacy benefits managers will stay the same.

Introducing State of Texas Vision

The ERS Board of Trustees named Superior Vision Services, Inc. as the third-party administrator of the new State of Texas Vision plan available to all employees, retirees and their eligible dependents beginning September 1, 2016.

Premiums for health and dental insurance to increase September 1, 2016

Find the Plan Year 2017 rates here. This includes monthly premium rates for all types of insurance, as well as the state's health savings account (HSA) contributions for the new Consumer Directed HealthSelect plan.
