HealthSelect of Texas (Out-of-Area)

HealthSelect out-of-area health insurance coverage is for you and your family members who live or work outside of the State of Texas and/or retirees eligible for Medicare. If you don't fall into these situations, you need to review the in-area information.

HealthSelect coverage includes a comprehensive Prescription Drug Program, provided by Caremark.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX) administers HealthSelect until August 31, 2012.
UnitedHealthcare
HealthSelect third-party administrator starting September 1, 2012.

Keep in-area benefits for your dependents

Your covered dependents under age 65 may continue in-area benefits when you turn 65. Dependents with in-area benefits will have their own ID number and claims must be filed separately. Contact HealthSelect to make this change.

Enroll

Enroll for Retirees
Enroll during Annual Enrollment or within 31 days of a qualifying life event.
Return to Work
If you are currently enrolled in HealthSelect and Medicare, you have out of area benefits. Active employees can elect in area benefits.

Using Services

Turning 65
When you turn 65 and are retired, your coverage level changes because you are Medicare eligible.
Vision Care
$40 for network doctor exam, discounts for frames and contacts
Find a Doctor
To find a doctor, use the BCBSTX Provider Finder (until 8/31/2012)
Filing a HealthSelect claim
Filing a claim is not necessary if you use a network provider or a ParPlan provider.
Prescription Drugs
Prescription drugs benefit is available with all health insurance plans.
UnitedHealthcare Provider Search
Search the UnitedHealthcare network for doctors and facilities.
