• Health Maintenance Organization

    Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) provides health coverage and prescription drug benefits to HMO participants and their eligible dependents. ERS has two HMO providers: Community First and Scott & White.

    HMOs are not available in all areas. Coverage is provided through a network of doctors and specialists in the Community First or Scott & White service areas.

  • Enroll

    • Turning 65

      When you turn 65 and are retired, your coverage level changes because you are Medicare eligible.

    • Enroll for Retirees

      Enroll during Annual Enrollment or within 31 days of a qualifying life event.

    • Who is eligible

      You and GBP eligible dependents can enroll if you live or work in the service area.

    • Preferred Drug List (CF)

      List of covered drugs (drug formulary).

    • Provider Finder (CF)

      Find a provider in the Community First network. You must designate and use a primary care physician (PCP) in the HMO network for the HMO to pay benefits.

  • Scott & White

    • Preferred Drug List (S&W)

      List of covered drugs (drug formulary).

    • Provider Finder (S&W)

      Find a provider in the Scott & White network. You must use providers in the Scott & White network for the HMO to pay benefits. You are not required to designate a PCP.

  • Note about insurance: Health and other insurance benefits for employees and retirees are subject to change based on available State funding. The Texas Legislature determines the level of funding for such benefits and has no continuing obligation to provide those benefits beyond each fiscal year.
