EOI for life insurance will be more convenient in 2013
The new year will bring a new, convenient option for members submitting evidence of insurability (EOI) for Optional Term Life and Dependent Term Life insurance. Beginning in January 2013, you and your dependents will be able to submit Life EOI (sometimes called “proof of good health”) online – doing away with the need to send the forms in the mail. Life EOI is an application process in which members who want optional life insurance provide information about their health and/or their dependents’ health so they can be approved for coverage.
Minnesota Life, the administrator for ERS’ life insurance, will begin accepting online Life EOI in January. The new process should be easier than the current paper process. The paper process will still be available, but the new online option should mean quicker access to the insurance benefits and should be easier for most participants.
An overview of the EOI process, including the importance of providing complete and truthful health information on the application, is available on the ERS website and will be updated when the online option becomes available.
