Coverage for your family

If you die as an active employee, your spouse and eligible children may continue the health and dental coverage in which they were enrolled on the date of your death.

They must pay the entire premium cost and continue to meet the residency requirements of the plan. Your eligible spouse may continue coverage for life, and your eligible children may continue coverage until age 26, if you have more than 10 years of service.

If you have less than 10 years of service, your spouse and children may continue health and dental coverage for up to 36 months under COBRA.
