State agency

Community Supervision and Corrections Department (CSCD)

Texas Municipal Retirement System (TMRS)

Texas County and District Retirement System (TCDRS)

You are now part of the Texas Employees Group Benefits Program (GBP). The GBP serves 1 out of every 46 Texans. For the average state agency employee, the total value of the State of Texas benefits package is equal to your base salary plus 32.4%.

First 31 Days

You should make these choices during the first 31 days:

Enroll in dental coverage.

Enroll in optional life and dependent insurance coverage.

Enroll in Short- and Long-term Disability Insurance.

Enroll in TexFlex to save money on health and day care expenses.

If you don’t enroll now, you will have to wait until the next Annual Enrollment or until you have a qualifying life event (QLE). You may not be able to enroll in optional insurance later because of something called evidence of insurability (EOI).

Within 90 Days

You have up to 90 days to make these choices:

Choose your Primary Care Physican or Dentist (if necessary)

Enroll your family in HealthSelect or HMO (if available).

Enroll yourself in Long-Term Care Insurance without EOI.

If you’re a full-time employee, you’re automatically enrolled in health coverage (HealthSelect) that starts the first day of the month after your 90th day of employment. After your first 90 days, EOI may be required.
