Dependent Eligibility Verification

  • As part of our efforts to ensure the long term viability of benefits for our members, ERS is working with Aon Hewitt to conduct a dependent eligibility verification for the Texas Employees Group Benefits Program (GBP). Dependent verification lowers instances of fraud by ensuring that only eligible dependents receive health coverage. Participants will not be required to re-certify dependents that were identified as their eligible dependent in a previous audit.

Did you recently add a dependent to the health coverage?

If you have, you should receive a letter from Aon Hewitt and you will need to take action to verify your dependent's eligibility for coverage.

I received a letter, what do I need to do?

    You will need to:

    • Read the letters (also called notices) from Aon Hewitt and the due date for document submission.
    • Gather the required documentation.
    • Send the required documentation to Aon Hewitt by the due date listed in the letter from Aon Hewitt.

It is your responsibility to comply with the verification process by providing the appropriate proof of eligibility to Aon Hewitt by the established due date. You should respond quickly and provide the requested documents by the due date. If you do not respond, or your dependent is found ineligible, ERS will cancel all of your dependent's coverage (health, dental, and/or dependent life.)
